The Chorus gives two or three concerts per year.

This season the winter concert was:

    'Let thy hand be strengthened' (Coronation Anthem No 4) by Handel,
    'Gloria' by Vivaldi,

2008/2009 Season:

For this season the winter concerts were:

  • 2 Cantatas (Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland and Wachet auf) by J.S.Bach,
    and Dixit Dominus by Handel,
    Saturday, November 29th, 2008, 7.30, in the Younger Hall;

  • Christmas Music and Carols for All conducted by Jill Craig,
    hosted by St Andrews Chorus and inviting all neighbouring choirs to join us.
    Thursday, December 11th, 2008, 8.00, in the Younger Hall,

The following spring we sang:

  • St John's Passion by J.S. Bach (Old Novello Edition -- not the new Neil Jenkins edition)
    Saturday, March 21st, 2009, 7.30, in the Younger Hall;

2007/2008 Season:

This season the first concert was a memorable performance of Messiah by Handel on November 24th. (The text of David Gascoigne's Pre-Concert Talk on Handel's Messiah is here)

This was followed by a stunning performance of Winterreise by Schubert, sung by Edward Caswell and accompanied by Walter Blair (Short Biography).

The spring concert on March 1st, 2008, was Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini.

Then we had two Summer Concerts on Sat May 24, Martyrs Church, 7.30 and on Sun June 15, St Andrews Church, 8.0 (for programmes click)

2006/2007 Season:

The season before last, the first concert was on Saturday, December 9th, 2006. It began with an organ prelude and three motets by Anton Bruckner followed by Brahms' German Requiem. (translation).

The spring concert was on March 17, 2007: it included Duruflé's Requiem, Handel's Zadok the Priest, Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus, Goodall's The Lord is my Shepherd and a piece by Maxwell Davies called Lullaby for Lucy.

In June we continued singing with two smaller concerts:
on June 2 the St Rule's Singers, conducted by David Gascoigne with Tom Duncan at the Organ, performed Masterpieces of Sacred Music, including Bach's Lobet den Herrn, the Tallis Lamentations of Jeremiah and works by Byrd, Monteverdi, Villette and Howells;
on June 15 friends and members of the Chorus were conducted by Marion Paton with Alan McGeoch at the organ and gave a Summer Concert, including Wesley's The Wilderness, Fauré's Cantique, Paton's Prayer of St Augustine and works by Mozart, Goodall, Maxwell Davies, Ireland, Billings, Rachmaninov and Franck.
